If you were one of the lucky ones in attendance for our “Willy Wonka $10,000 Candy Extravaganza Celebration”, then we’re sure that you’ll agree that your experience was one of “Pure Imagination”.
To ensure that the $10,000 Candy Extravaganza Celebration would be one that those in attendance would never forget, our Convention Center Staff began working months in advance to ensure that this event would be orchestrated with the same distinctive blend of imagination and sophistication that has become the trademark style of the Island Convention Center.
Shortly after Ron White’s performance in late July, the Merchandising Booth (located in front of the Island Showroom) was transformed into a temporary workshop where our Convention Center Staff could begin the long and arduous process of constructing the many decorations that would be used as part of the $10,000 Candy Extravaganza Celebration. The “crafting process” lasted almost six weeks and resulted in the creation of over 100 unique pieces! From giant golden eggs to larger than life Wonka Bars, our Convention Center Staff managed to capture those essential details which would be needed to recreate Willy Wonka’s world of pure imagination!
FYI… We offered a sneak peak of our “crafty creations” in early August via our Willy Wonka $10,000 Candy Extravaganza Pinterest Board! If you don’t follow us on Pinterest, you certainly should, as it offers unique content that you won’t find on our other social media sites!
The “Willy Wonka $10,000 Candy Extravaganza Celebration” took place on Friday, September 6th in the Island Convention Center. When the doors opened at 5:00 PM, the 150 golden ticket holders and their respective guests walked through the gates of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and into setting that would have impressed even Roald Dahl. Guests that evening were also treated to a most “scrumdiddlyumptious” meal which included: carved candy ham, smashed red potatoes, glazed baby carrots and a chocolate fountain for desert!
As if that weren’t enough, several of the Oompa Loompas dropped by (just in case someone had to make an emergency trip to the taffy-pulling room) to wish all of our golden ticket holders the best of luck!
Celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary that evening, Ken Zillmer from Menominee, Michigan definitely had lady luck on his side when he unwrapped his piece of the $10,000 Candy Extravaganza! Ken and his wife were not only able to celebrate 65 years of wedded bliss, but were also able to do so $5,000 richer! Ken’s great fortune (in more than one sense) can’t help but remind us of something that Willy Wonka himself once said”
“And Charlie, don’t forget about what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he ever wanted. He lived happily ever after.”
