Since 1976, Jacksonville, Florida’s favorite sons have toured the world with their unique brand of highly explosive Southern arena rock. They’ve recorded over 15 albums and sold 20 million records with hits that have spanned generations.
The band has toured with such acts as Peter Frampton, Foghat and Kiss, and they still play 100+ cities every year.
Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, their fourth and breakthrough record in 1981, put them on the charts with “Hold on Loosely” and “Fantasy Girl.” Their 1982 follow up, Special Forces, gave the band their first top 10 hit with “Caught Up in You.” Since then, they’ve never looked back.
“The magic’s still there,” says guitarist/vocalist and founding member Don Barnes. “It’s an emotional high for us to keep bringing it after all these years.” These days, Barnes is joined by long-time 38 Special alum, keyboardist Bobby Capps, bassist Barry Dunaway, monster drummer Gary Moffatt and guitar virtuoso Jerry Riggs.
Collectively, these musicians have an impressive pedigree, having played with the likes of Pat Travers, Yngwie Malmsteen and Survivor, among others.
