From Star Search to Country Pop Legends

Forming in 1981 in Florida, Sawyer Brown catapulted to stardom in 1983 on the reality TV show “Star Search,” a national talent competition show. After winning the grand prize of $100,000 and a record contract, their first single “Leona” became a Top 20 hit. They soon scored their first number one hit with “Step That Step.” 

Since then, they’ve made over 20 albums and toured all over the country. From 1992 to 1998, they were nominated seven consecutive times for Vocal Group of the Year by the Country Music Association Awards. In 1994 they were nominated for a Grammy for Best Vocal Performance Duo or Country Group. 

Sawyer Brown has helped to shape pop country music throughout the decades.
