You probably know him as Officer Mike Biggs from the CBS hit television series Mike & Molly. But you’ll love comedian Billy Gardell for the everyman sense of humor he brings to his standup shows.
Bonkerz Comedy Productions is proud to present this well-known comedian and actor at the Island Resort & Casino on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
A Loveable Curmudgeon is Born
When he was eight years old, Billy Gardell’s grandmother told him that he could be a comedian. As a teen, he experienced his first brushes of comic life while working at Bonkerz Comedy Club in Orlando, Florida.
Spurred on by his coworkers, Gardell took to the stage on open-mic night and never looked back. Since then, he’s played every small-town lounge, military base and comedy club across America. Eventually, he was opening shows for Dennis Miller and George Carlin.
Gardell cites Carlin, Jackie Gleason, Richard Pryor, John Candy and John Belushi as his primary influences. As a comedian, he’s known for his engaging and hilarious narratives about life in working-class America.
He often incorporates candid stories about his wild childhood as well as his role as a father into his routines. This can be seen in his well-known comedy special Billy Gardell: Halftime, where Gardell reflects on reaching middle age, or the “halftime” of his life.
I Know That Guy…
Once he relocated from the East Coast to Los Angeles, Billy’s relatable and charismatic persona won him numerous acting roles. As a film star, you may know him from Bad Santa; You, Me and Dupree; and Avenging Angelo.
On TV, his long list of credits includes:
- Heist
- The Practice
- Yes, Dear
- Desperate Housewives
- Young Sheldon
- My Name Is Earl
- Monk
- The King of Queens
- The Comedy Central series Make Me Laugh, where he appeared as himself
Gardell is also active on Pittsburgh radio station WDVE, where he’s called into the morning show every Tuesday for 15 years. He uses these guest slots to connect with his hometown audience, often commenting on pop culture and local news stories. “Passive-aggressive sayings” is one of his best-known bits.
