A new chapter of golf has arrived at Island Resort & Casino. Cedar Course (Kishki), our new nine-hole layout, is now welcoming golfers for limited preview play through October 4, 2026.
Preview rounds are $45 per player, with a limited number of tee times available exclusively through online booking. It is an early opportunity to experience architect Paul Albanese’s newest design before Cedar’s full debut in 2027.
Three Courses, One Meaningful Story
Cedar is the third course at Island Resort & Casino, joining Sweetgrass and Sage Run to bring the resort’s golf offering to 45 holes. Each course has its own look and personality, but their names also share a deeper connection to the heritage of the property.
The course’s Potawatomi name, Kishki, means “cedar.” Cedar is one of the four sacred medicines and represents protection and purification. Together, Sweetgrass, Sage Run and Cedar form a meaningful trilogy that reflects the land and the cultural story of the Hannahville Indian Community.
A Different Kind of Round at the Island
Cedar introduces a style of golf unlike anything else at the resort. The course follows gentler ground next to Sage Run, landing between Sage Run’s dramatic elevation changes and Sweetgrass’s rolling landscape. The result is a highly playable routing with enough movement, contour and strategic choice to keep every hole interesting.
Its Golden Age-inspired design rewards thoughtful shot-making instead of relying on length alone. Bold greens, carefully placed bunkers and multiple ways to approach a hole invite golfers to make decisions, take calculated risks and use their imagination.
“With its Golden Age-inspired architecture, Cedar offers a style of golf unlike anything else on property,” said Tony Mancilla, general manager of Island Resort & Casino. “It’s an authentic, strategic golf experience that further establishes Island Resort & Casino as one of the Midwest’s premier golf destinations.”
An Early Look at Cedar’s Signature Holes
The preview season gives golfers their first chance to take on design concepts inspired by some of the game’s most celebrated courses. The opening “Bottle” hole asks players to choose a line as the fairway tightens. The par-5 sixth adds a Sahara-style bunker and boomerang green, while the drivable eighth draws inspiration from the famous 10th at Riviera Country Club.
The round closes with more classic character, including a Punchbowl green and Church Pew bunkers at the ninth. These elements are not simple copies. Albanese has adapted their strategy and spirit to Cedar’s Upper Peninsula setting.
Turn Preview Play Into an Island Getaway
A Cedar round is easy to build into a larger stay at the Island. Reserve one of our 454 guest rooms and suites, book online to add rounds at Sweetgrass or Sage Run, then enjoy dining, gaming, live entertainment or time at Drift Spa when the clubs are put away.
Golf-package guests visiting in 2026 may book Cedar separately online. Beginning in 2027, Cedar will be fully integrated into Island golf packages alongside the resort’s other course offerings.
Preview tee times are limited and may be reserved up to 14 days in advance. Book your Cedar Course tee time online and be among the first to play the newest course at Island Resort & Casino.
