Great White & Slaughter Rock You

Great White and Slaughter at the Island Resort & Casino

Get ready for a two-night double rock attack! This March, two of the ’80s best and biggest bands, Great White and Slaughter, take over The Island Showroom for an entire weekend. Known for their catchy riffs, sing-along hits and storied histories, these bands promise to keep you up all night and rock you into the morning.

Save Your Love for Great White

Formed in 1977, Great White was named after guitarist Mark Kendall’s generous platinum hair and the trademark white guitars he used in the early days of their career. The band had modest success through the mid-eighties but struck gold with their 1987 album Once Bitten and the 1989 follow-up …Twice Shy.

These two albums, among the best of their day, introduced audiences to “Rock Me,” “Lady Red Light,” “Save Your Love” and their biggest hit: a cover of Ian Hunter’s “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.” Great White would ultimately go on to sell over 10 million albums and tour for four decades.

Known for their seamless blend of blues rock, soaring vocals and MTV-certified arena rock hooks, Great White remains one of the staples of the hair rock era. The current band features:

  • The legendary Mark Kendall on guitar.
  • Long-time staple Michael Lardie on guitars, keyboards and backing vocals.
  • Classic drummer Audie Desbrow.
  • Scott Snyder on bass.
  • Vocalist Brett Carlisle, who honors the sound of original singer Jack Russel while injecting his own youthful energy into the band.

Spend Some Time With Slaughter

Formed in 1988 by frontman Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum, Slaughter quickly rose to fame with the release of their double platinum debut, Stick It to Ya. The record contained several hits, including “Up All Night,” “Fly to the Angels,” and “Spend My Life.”

Their biggest hit, “Fly to the Angels,” spent an impressive 19 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock chart, making it one of the most successful rock singles of its era. Their follow-up album, The Wild Life, went gold and spawned another round of hits, including the title track and “Real Love.”

Known for powerful vocals, precision guitar work, and anthemic songwriting, Slaughter continues to be a fan favorite around the world. Thirty-five years later, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum deliver the band’s trademark blend of technical prowess and feel-good rock energy. Joined by long-time guitar player Jeff “Blando” Bland and drummer Jordan Cannata, the band is as loud and energetic as ever.
